On 7 February, on his first day as NATO’s newly appointed Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan (SCR), Ambassador Mark Sedwill was publicly welcomed by his military counterpart, the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), General Stanley McChrystal, at a senior level briefing at ISAF Headquarters in Kabul.

From 9 to 12 February 2010, the Group of Experts on the NATO Strategic Concept will visit Moscow at the invitation of the Russian Federation. As part of the reflection period, the group, under the leadership of Dr. Madeleine Albright, former US Secretary of State, will participate in discussions with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Secretary of the National Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev and will meet with the members of the Duma, the Lower House of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
